ETL Milestones
From foundation to now
In the early 1970s, Franz-Josef Wernze and Klaus F.K. Schmidt formed a partnership to work as tax consultants. They recognized very quickly that their clients’ need for advice was not limited to tax issues. The vision of a holistic firm concept was born that could provide tax, business, and legal advice from a single source. Franz-Josef Wernze continued this business idea in subsequent years and developed a group of companies which has operated under the ETL brand name since 1995.
Franz-Josef Wernze started EKW-Treuhand GmbH and laid the foundation for the current ETL Group
SUB Group founded
Expansion into the former East Germany with currently 320 offices and growth of Freund & Partner Group
Integration of IT service provider eurodata
ETL Academy founded, expansion under the ETL brand umbrella
Merger between SUB Group and Freund & Partner Group
ETL “Kinderträume” Foundation created
Holding company renamed to ETL AG Steuerberatungsgesellschaft ETL AG Auditing founded
